Teacher Preparation Programs

Your Gateway to Becoming a First-Time Teacher
Are you ready to make a difference in our children's future by becoming a teacher? To help you reach your goal, Walden University’s Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership offers
state-approved* teacher preparation programs with an option to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree. Designed for the working adult professional, these flexible, online programs offer a practical gateway to teaching, while you continue to work full time. With a focus in early childhood education or special education, our teacher preparation programs meet the educational requirements needed to teach in P-12 classrooms or other educational settings. If you have a bachelor's degree and aspire to teach, our programs are designed for you.

Walden's practical online programs combine a distance-delivery format (featuring national educational experts sharing teaching best practices) with hands-on teaching experiences in the classroom under the supervision of a veteran faculty mentor. Each program's unique curriculum allows you to apply what you learn immediately.

In 16 to 20 months (depending on individual progress), you can enjoy the distinctive rewards that come only with a career in teaching.

Walden University's teacher preparation programs are approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching.
